In the White House, that is.
Very soon after Barack Obama became President, he and Michelle Obama did something that had never been done before: they decided to have a Poetry Jam. A number of noted poets and writers were invited, including the young Lin-Manuel Miranda. He was supposed to perform a song from In The Heights. But Lin had something different in mind.
Now we fast-forward to 2016. Hamilton has become the greatest phenomenon one can imagine and the Obamas have invited the full cast to visit the White House. On the afternoon before the evening performance, First Lady Michelle Obama fills the place with students who are going to meet the cast and learn as much as they can.
President Obama introduces the event at the White House.
That evening, the cast of Hamilton sings for the First Family.
The cast honors the President with “One Last Time.” And everyone cries.
